About Claiborne Swanson Frank

Claiborne Swanson Frank is a fine-art photographer, creative director, and author whose work captures modern beauty through deeply personal portraits. Raised in San Francisco, she began her career in New York at Vogue under Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, before transitioning into photography—a shift that would define her creative path.

Selected Bibliography

Her first body of work, a portrait series of the women in her life, became the foundation for her bestselling debut, American Beauty (Assouline, 2012). The book’s cover image of Lily Aldridge was exhibited at the de Young Museum in San Francisco the same year. This was followed by Young Hollywood (2014), which chronicled rising stars in Los Angeles, and the deeply personal Mother and Child (2018), a celebration of motherhood now in its ninth edition. Her latest book, Father and Child (2025), was created in collaboration with Brunello Cucinelli.
