On the occasion of the launch of the book, Johanna Ortiz and Lauren Santo Domingo collaborated to design a silk pareo, sold in an exclusive set alongside the book. Inspired by the nostalgia and joy of Cartagena, its seductive architecture, and the endless sunsets of the Caribbean coast, it will be available in a limited edition run on ModaOperandi.com, JohannaOrtiz.com, Johanna Ortiz boutiques in Colombia and at the Assouline Bal Harbour boutique ($350).
Lauren Santo Domingo is an entrepreneur, editor, and the co-founder of Moda Operandi. A prominent figure within the New York society scene, Lauren has become a style maven in the fashion world. Her love of Cartagena began with her first trip in 1998 and is stronger than ever two decades later thanks to her Colombian husband. Now a citizen herself, she shares her passion for the country with her children.
Johanna Ortiz is a creative ambassador for Colombia and the Creative Director at her namesake lifestyle brand that has enjoyed tremendous growth and a beautiful evolution in the last years. She calls Cartagena her second home and the city aesthetics have played a crucial role in her evolution as a fashion designer. Her national pride is represented in the efforts her brand places to strengthen local development by generating 441 jobs (78% women), working with indigenous communities and building capacities for vulnerable women in Colombia through her “Escuela JO” training program. The cultural traditions and biodiversity of her country are an essential part of her pieces. Ortiz lives with her husband and three sons in Cali, Colombia.
