The idea that the finest things in life are the moments we share is the foundation of the Game Room, the second chapter in Assouline's Library Collection. The Game Room brings together a selection of timeless games, from backgammon and chess to playing cards and dominoes, reimagined through rich woods, pebbled leathers, and brushed brass. As with every object in the Library Collection, each piece reflects the highest level of craftsmanship. Envisioned as a dialogue between play and design, the Game Room is for those who gather and connect. It embodies Assouline's spirit of conviviality, bringing warmth, sophistication, and a playful sense of beauty to any interior.

PEBBLE DOMINO SET: HOW TO PLAY

Setup
In a two-player game, each draws seven tiles from the shuffled set, the remaining fourteen left face down in a pile called the boneyard. Whoever holds the highest double, ideally the double-six, plays first.

Playing a turn
Each turn adds a single tile to an open end of the layout, its number matched to the number already showing there. Doubles, tiles bearing the same number on both ends, are placed crossways, perpendicular to the line of play, and may be built upon from either side.

If you can't a move
In Block, the standard game, a player unable to match simply passes the turn. In Draw, a popular variant, a stuck player instead draws tiles from the boneyard, one at a time, until a play becomes possible, or the boneyard runs dry.

How the round ends
The round ends the instant a player sets down their last tile, and that player wins. Should neither player hold a playable tile and the round fall blocked, the winner is whoever holds the lower total of pips, the dots remaining in hand, a count known as the pip count.

A note on variants
Draw dominoes, described above, adds the boneyard as a safety valve for a player left stuck. Muggins, also called All Fives, changes the scoring altogether: rather than waiting for a round's end, players score points during play itself, whenever the open ends of the layout sum to a multiple of five.
